Copyright Policy

We respect creators' rights and expect people who use Utabox to do the same. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes your rights, and what happens next.

Report content

If a song, lyric, cover or profile on Utabox uses your work without permission, or imitates you in a way that violates your rights (for example your voice, name or likeness), tell us:

  • use the Report button on the song's share page, or
  • email support@utabox.app with the subject “Copyright notice”.

What to include

  • Your name and contact details.
  • The work you own or represent, and how to find it (for example a link to the original song or lyrics).
  • The link to each item on Utabox you're reporting.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by the rights holder, their agent or the law.
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
  • Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).

This covers what the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act asks for, and also works for notices under the EU Digital Services Act and Japan's Information Distribution Platform Act. Incomplete notices may take longer.

What we do

We review every notice. If it's valid, we remove the content or disable access to it — we may hide it while we check — and let the person who posted it know, including a copy of the notice.

If your content was removed

If you think your content was removed by mistake, or you have the right to use the material, you can send a counter-notice to support@utabox.app with:

  • your name and contact details;
  • what was removed and where it was;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  • your consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for where you live (or, if you're outside the United States, any judicial district where we may be found), and that you'll accept legal papers from the person who reported it;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

We may forward your counter-notice to the person who reported the content. Unless they tell us they've taken legal action, we may restore the content after 10 to 14 business days.

Repeat infringement

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others' rights.

Please be accurate

Sending a notice or counter-notice you know is false can have legal consequences, including paying damages. If you're not sure whether something infringes your rights, consider getting legal advice first.

About AI-generated music

Songs on Utabox are generated by AI models from people's prompts and lyrics, and generated music can sometimes resemble existing work by accident. If you hear something that copies your work, report it as described above — we take it seriously even if it wasn't intentional.
